50121 Diploma of Surveying

This qualification has been crafted to closely resemble the Australian CPP50121 – Diploma of Surveying (Release 1) in its entirety training.gov.au – CPP50121– Diploma of Surveying. Hence, both teachers and students must adhere rigorously to the course guidelines.

Training package status: Current

This qualification reflects the role of skilled surveying technicians who hold advanced surveying skills and perform duties in the field involving the performance of precise measurements and setting out of structures using specialised surveying equipment. In the office they map onsite measurements and draft plans.

Surveying skills are applied in a range of industry contexts, including town planning, civil construction, mining, engineering, agriculture and defence.
Cadastral surveying must be undertaken under the supervision of a registered surveyor. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway.

Location

Training is undertaken in the classroom and out in the field. The training locations are based in Colombo 7 and are easily accessible by car or bus. Learners are responsible for getting themselves to and from the training locations.

Entry requirements

Learners are required to:

  • CPP40216 Certificate IV in Surveying
    or
  • CPP41721 Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying) or
  • Demonstrated relevant vocational experience, skills and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the CPP41721 Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying).

Learners are required to supply the following:

  • Closed in shoes suitable for working in parks and gardens
  • Loose fitting long sleeve shirt and pants for sun protection
  • Wide brimmed hat for sun protection
